Hi Oldman Gareth AH6PN, I understand you're an American from Florida. If you are staying here in DU land you need to apply for a reciprocal license.

From the Revised Amateur Radio Regulations:

Section IX. Licensing of Foreign Amateurs

"The NTC may authorized a person who is a resident and citizen of a foreign country to operate his amateur station while temporarily in the Philippines provided he is a holder of an appropriate amateur station license and an operator's license or certificate issued by the government of the country of which he is a citizen and provided that same country has a formal or an informal reciprocal agreement with the Philippines. He should be encouraged to affiliate with a local amateur club for better camaraderie and fellowship."

=============================================

Reciprocal Licensing for foreign amateurs.

Please note that some countries, notably Japan, do not allow reciprocal license privileges to DU hams and therefore those countries citizens are likewise denied reciprocal licenses in DU.
You will require the following :-
1. Photocopy of your passport, showing your photo and name/signature
2. passport type photographs, 1" x 1"   -  3 pcs color
3. Certification of good moral character issued by your Embassy, or other dignitary such as Police or  Reverend
4. Information Sheet, duly notarized, and License Application Form
5. Copy of your Amateur License, with translations to English where required
6. Name and exact location of the place where you will operate
7. Serial numbers, models and frequency ranges of radio you are going to use

Class A foreign license holders are usually given a 100W power limit on the temporary permit.

Foreign amateurs are also permitted to obtain a local license, as long as their home country also grants the same privilege to DU amateurs,  by fulfilling the same requirements as local amateurs, such as passing the exams for the appropriate elements required by their class of license, membership of a local radio club, etc. It is also necessary to be a holder of a residents or investor visa; a tourist visa is not permitted.

You may send the above documents to the Philippine Amateur Radio Association, Inc. (PARA) and we will do the endorsement letter and the processing  of your application to the NTC. All you have to do is to pay the following fees, as applicable and we will do the rest. The following fees are applicable: (please check with PARA for current fees

Filing Fee for Class A – P 180.00  / Class B – P192.00 /  Class C -  P204.00

Permit to Possess – P60 plus P50 per unit (The Permit to Operate will also serve as a Permit to Possess)

Notary Public (Information Sheet) - P100.00

Transportation  - P300.00

Membership Fee - P450.00 (waived if International Lifetime Membership is applied for)

Please ensure you always obtain a receipt for any transactions with PARA.

We would also like to encourage you to join a regular radio club affiliated to PARA so that you may have access to the QSL bureau and enjoy other privileges. Please refer to the Affiliated Clubs page for more details.

Wow!  Very informative.  Not in anyway related to the TS but I think you deserve a Pogi Point.
