HELP: Using USB-serial port in ZDS II

Need help po mga sir..

I'm using ZDS II - Z8Encore! 4.11.0 to program a microcontroller (Zilog Z8F082A) for our thesis, the problem is my laptop has no serial port. So we bought a USB-serial port converter from E-Gizmo(Model U232-P9).

We tested it out. The code and settings are the same and okay as I have already burned it using a desktop with serial ports and it works. But when I started to download the code to the MCU using the USB-serial port converter..

[ERROR] Connection Failed. Check power and communication connections.
[ERROR] Target read/write error. (ERR_DTLI_SERIAL_ERROR)
[ERROR] Unable to connect to the target.

The Baudrates and SerialSmartCable Port# are the same..

I'm kind'a noob to this whole Zilog MCU programming thing so I don't know what's (are) the possible cause(s) of my problems.. or baka mali lang yung pag-gamit ko nung device kasi I've tried it out on numerous laptops with Win VISTA and Win XP operating systems, same problem..

Ayun, ok na poh mga sir.. I've figured it out..

Hindi ata talaga nade-detect yung USB-serial sa VISTA OS.. pagdating sa XP ok pala siya, di ko lang na-restart yung laptop pagkatapos install yung new hardware..

Follow-up Question, alam nyo po ba kung paano siya ayusin pag VISTA yung gamit mong OS?

Bakit ayaw sa Vista mo? sa akin wala namang problema yung USB to Serial

Hmm.. Weird ayaw saken pag VISTA(Ultimate).. Is it possible kaya na may mga laptop models na hindi compatible yung adapter? My laptop is an HP COMPAQ laptop.

updated ba vista mo? sure ka bang nainstall mo nang maayos yung driver mo?
i tried the cables with CH340 chip and cables using PL2303 chip...

maybe its the software that you use... may iba kasing software for vista ang USB to Serial.. ganun din kasi nging problem namin..
