The crisis must be the main reason why the passing rate is an all time low. As I understood, the PRC regulates the number of Professionals depending on the demand of the course in order to avoid OVER SUPPLY of professionals which will lead to UNDEREMPLOYMENT. On the other hand, it became a perfect timing to cover up the obvious leak of questions brought about by the FLASHING of questions in a known Review Center.
What did we ECE’s gain from this? It’s now clear that this entire issue made Filipino ECE's gain attention. Too bad, we ECE's are now part of the community of UNTRUSTED BOARD EXAM COURSES. How did it happen?
I came from a family of Engrs and I know that the FLASHING of questions is happening in ALL ECE Review Centers. Some directly, like EXCEL and EDGE, some are not like PERCDC where a more discreet “VIRTUAL” is being conducted. All of which with the intention to “HELP” their students pass the board. However, this “closed door” has been very controversial from the beginning as many describe it as the “ultimate review”. As a matter of fact, some of those who already took the exam and successfully passed would safely say that by simply attending their “closed doors” would somehow give you the edge in the forthcoming board exam. What is so special about this closed door? Or Virtual? It is statistically proven that this “closed doors” and Virtuals” are the most accurate questions given in the entire review. Like what many claimed in the news, the most recent closed door of EXCEL had at least 50% of questions in the actual Board. As a matter of fact, the flashed questions are so accurate that the arrangement of problems during the closed door is the same as the arrangement of problems in the actual board. How did this happen? How did EXCEL get all those questions? How come it came in so accurate? Who’s fault?
Im not sure when did this closed door or virtual started but clearly, it is becoming a culture among all ECE review centers. Fully unaware of the consequences and blinded by the intention to make themselves as the Review Center with the Highest Passing Percentage, or with the biggest number of topnotchers, they do not realize how they are downgrading the profession. That by doing this, the true essence of getting a four - letter distinction before our names which we’ve always dreamed to get since we entered the Engineering school is clearly mutilated.
Review Centers must help each of the students to pass the Board exam the ETHICAL way and must stop their delinquent habits. It’s sad how they’ve changed themselves as a purely income generating entity that is willing to do ANYTHING in order to have more students, more MONEY. Where have all your values gone?
By the time that I’ll be taking my own board exam, I’ll be an engineer not just because I have a PRC license but because I am deserving.
