I just bought an 18in Wall fan and found out the motor speed is so strong even it was in the minimal mode. Is there a way I can contol to slow down the speed of the motor without overheating the motor?

You can use a triac circuit like the ones used for Light Dimmers. Something like this...

-PLEASE DON'T DO THIS BECAUSE I SAID SO. I HAVEN'T TRIED THIS ONE AND I WAS JUST THINKING OUT LOUD.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

pwede 'yan.

reducing the voltage of a motor is dangerous as some motors are not designed to operate at slower speeds. the usual problem will be a hotter fan motor windings, as the cooling from the fan's original speed will be lessened if you lower the fan speed.

this is a common problem for motors that was connected to variable frequency (speed) drives. inadequate cooling from the lower speeds usually heats up the winding insulation and lower lifespan. I usually recommend motors that are designed to be used for VFD operation, the motors here have more insulation than the ordinary motor
