You mean like divining and/or dowsing? Paghanap lang sa tubig lang ang nakita ko sa Magandang Gabi, Bayan noon.  But parang paranormal yata ito.

I don't know about precious metals but Ground Penetrating Radar yata ang ginagamit ngayon ng mga geologists at archeologists. Ito rin yata ang ginamit ng Taiwan rescue party noong magkalandslide sa leyte.

baka it detects by gravity.. A large lump of metalic ore underground might be able to sway a verry small pendulum(it will be attracted to the ores gravitational pull).. as you pass over it mag dedeflect yung pendulum....
