PROJECT: DIY Media Player

Hi Nerds!

I'm starting a project to compete with Popcorn Hour's media players. My goal is to create a linux-based media box that would be capable of playing as many media formats as possible and will allow 5.1 channel audio output, with wifi / lan internet capabilities for downloading. I also wanted as many USB ports as possible and more importantly a set of video output ports (HDMI, S-Video, RCA, VGA).

Initially i'm looking for a processor and/or video chip that will suit my needs.

Any suggestions?
