help!! my picme starter kit wouldnt download the program.
after connecting and disconnecting the serial monitor, i clicked the download button in the download tab, the error message reads: "no bootloader found!" what should i do?
what are the steps in downloading the hex file to the microcontroller?

hi, when i use the programmed PIC16f877a on another board, can i use 8MHz crystal instead of a 20MHz?

i see.. thanks you:) but if i'm going to use a new microcontroller, how will i download or a bootloader in it?

hi, may i ask, what is a bootloader anyway? sorry for the noob question and, i need to communicate to an development board (picme) for a microcontroller (pic16f877a) via the hyperterminal. this is the first requirement of our teacher for our Real time operating system project. how do i go about this using the PICME kit? I don't know where to start.

hi everyone! I'm just new to this forum. anyway, i've read the thread and I am interested about this microcontroller kit. But before buying, I want to ask if the programmer is VISTA-compatible? How about MAC? Thanks in advance.

Hello! pwede po pa help about PICme and HyperTerminal. Nagtuturnoff po kasi ung MCU ko pag kinoconnect ko ung hyperterminal via UART. Does anyone know what the problem is? Kasi when i try PICDSM oki nman same rin sa UART communication terminal ng mikroC gumagana ung MCU. Example: I create a program that turns the leds on and also echoing what I am sending from the pc. When i am using PICDSM it echoes what ever letter/word i send to the MCU, same for mikroc's usart communication terminal. But when i connect the PICme using hyperterminal the LED turns off and when i disconnect it the led turns on again also i do not receive any echo from the mcu. I think i am using the right config for hyperterminal 9600-8-none-1-none. mcu also uses 9600.
@ alainmelan I am not sure if the PICDSM could run in vista. For mac I think it will run using bootcamp. But os x i'm not sure it it would probably run using parallels/vine. The kit is just ok, i think the problem in this kit is the support. If you search the net about picme only this thread and the asti site will appear. Plus ASTI site doesn't contain much just a product description.

How about MAC? Thanks in advance. The kit and the software from ASTI are both Vista-compatible. Be sure that the software is installed using an admin account (Run as administrator). Also, don't forget to disable your antivirus temporarily before installing the software. Hello! pwede po pa help about PICme and HyperTerminal. Nagtuturnoff po kasi ung MCU ko pag kinoconnect ko ung hyperterminal via UART. Does anyone know what the problem is? i-try mong i-disable your "hardware control" sa hyperterminal... baka kasi nagsesend ng signal yung hyperterminal na nagiging cause ng pagRESET ng PICme.

Hi Elizabeth ann and to ALL,
Good Day.
Actually you can follow the schematic of that PICMe Board;yes, just you can get the correct pinning of the board and had some jumper/connector to tap PIC18F452-you can still use the board.
To everybody using it (PICMe), aside from the documents available in the small CD ,I can still send you some documents additional to it. General applications (CCS & HiTech) I just don't know if it was reinserted in the CD during the mass productions-Just PM me privately and I will send the Docs(pls not the hyper terminal VB6 source code copyrighted)
Thanks and enjoy using it.

Hello Sir Chris VP, Did the proton Basic manual/tutorial pushed thru?
Actually ,it was not a complete tutorial , but a sample guide on basic programming in C (CCS-expensive) and of course Assembly MPASM-> MPLAB for it is free.So we have the options to use Hi-tech C for student version or completely switch to SDCC-Linux.But the problem with Linux is the students' lack of familiarization how to use it as a platform. About your question,I have no idea if ever there was a documentation/s published to some prospect users-an example is Phi Sci- we did some;but that is in hi-Tech C. Anyway, you can help me introduce proton as a compiler /interpreter using PICMe.The board & PCB layout (in my opinion that is copyrighted) though PICMe is a simple PIC16F877a application circuits. What insisted me to add this in my blog is that- a lot of users really need a Tech supports secondly ,I have a lot of private message being received here, thirdly a fun for passion the last one supporting PICMe supports ASTI and the totality supports the R&D of this archipelago. Thanks E^3

Hello Sir E^3
Thanks for the update...im looking forward to that manual. As a fanatic of pinoy geniuses Im hoping that PICME can be an all language PIC starter kit which Im thinking could invite & encourage PIC enthusiast using different kind of programming language to patronize it.( As an observation so far no PIC programming/debugging kit that is readily available on the net cathers to different programming languages). Hopefully we can make PICME a robust class of filipino product.
I know one guy here made an effort to develope the manual/tutorial but didnt get to talk to him again and get updates on this matter.Maybe one of this day when I can focus on PIC programming I can share some of my knowledge.Maybe not with Proton Basic but PICBasic Pro.
Regards

Actually , recently I informed my team buddies at ASTI ,what support could a PICMe distributor(not to mention who is the distributor/reseller)offer to their clients?I wish I could suggest a sample PICMe EVB to some of the main contributors here(e-Lab); well, at least a complement for a dedication of time and sharing expertise-Tutorials and Sample application using PICMe EVB. Hope it could happen, but anyway, if you have time you can share just tell me the identity whom I could acknowledge. By the way,I was totally surprise(unexpectedly) that a foreigner enthusiast (his name is Art Becker) who was the first guy to share me a lot of his PICMe hobbies(think about that). Why not apply at ASTI? Thanks. E^3
