The board supports the PIC16F877A, and several PIC18Fx series microcontrollers in the 40-pin DIP package. These controllers have program memory built on FLASH technology which provides fast erasing and reprogramming, thus allowing a fast debugging or error checking. Also, program loaded in Flash memory can be stored after the power is off. Besides Flash memory, these microcontrollers contain 64 to 256 bytes of EEPROM memory, which can be used for storing data and other parameters when power is off.As compared to other PIC starter kits available in the local market, this package is considered as the most affordable.
