@ ingine sis:
ang neon bulb is a gas bulb. wala siyang filament that glows. The gas glows in the presence of small AC current. Now, remove your shoes or slippersand touch your toe to a wall or the floor, maging bright yan. Ang return path ay Meralco line to ground. Bakit, kasi ang Meralco ground ay may neutral line sa transformer sa poste na grounded to earth.pwede nga kumuha ng 110 one line to good ground such as the pipes ng deepwell. May return path yan sis.

In my humble opinion this is a dangerous method of testing a hot line, kasi di ba ginagamit mo yung body mo as a ground reference (current path to ground) what happens if, shorted yung resistive element dun. Just use na lang a compliant type of tester with finger guard and at max 4mm test proved (BS standard).

No, i did'nt mean that in fact eagle brand is very refutable, it's just that I'm not comfortable using this tester specially those that are made with no quality marks. There's a new version out in the market which is a non contact voltage detection it looks like a pen with a LED indication.

Yung non contact live tester, meron pa audible indicator maganda kaya lang me battery pa.

The current running through the neon is sooooooooo tiny. Beenusing the screwdriver type for years and they were also widely sold in the US. But I agree with you sis, gamitin na lang natin yung LED type. Mas mabeauty yun.Weshould always be on the safe side, di ba?
