I have passed the board examination last april 2010. i'm a registered electronics engineer. im looking for my first Job. and i want to practice my profession. One kind of job seems appealing to me.. Computer Software Engineering.. the one who create and develop software using java, c++, and many other programming language... my question is.. is it still related to our field? will becoming a software engineer a wise choice? will it be credited by PRC for me to be qualified as an PECE after practicing it for at least 7 years? im having a trouble right now.. and i can't choose easily. the starting compensation for this job is quite high compared to other ECE jobs... i just wish that this job could help me promote and enhance my career as an ECE.. sorry for the disturbance.. i just need your opinions... though we have some background on programming..assembly and some C language programming..but.. Software Engineering are mostly for IT and Computer Science students..and they have their edge there because it is what the have studied during college.... please give me your insights.. thanks..

hmm i think you should go for Firmware Programming.. or any RnD related work=)
other RnD (Design Engineers) do hardware, software and firmware design.. you can practice here what you have learn.. and also can nurture other skills of yours=)

i see. but i think there are few opportunities for that field here in the Phil.. what i am after also is for the training on different programming languages. thanks for your opinion. just one more question..will i still be able to have a pece license if i engage myself here?

but compensation may not be as attractive as with SW and there are few companies offering firmware as compared with software. maybe sir e.novacek could comment on this, for me I don't see anything wrong, this is real life we must be realistic.

"..at least two (2) years of which are in responsible charge of significant engineering work" in accordance with RA-9292.. firmware programming and hardware designing (R&D work) ang sa pagkaka-alam ko ay related na related sa ECE experience.. pero sa software programming.. hindi lang ako sure.. siguro credited din naman in some aspects.. puwede ma-justified kung embedded "human-machine interface" ung project.. usually kasi pwede naman dun C#, C++, VB, Java, etc.. usually ang software programming ay under ito nang CoE, CS, and IT.. naka-design kasi ung curriculum nila para dito.. may mga subjects silang "operating systems, software quality, e-commerce, data management, software engineering, microsoft .NET, java programming" na wala naman kadalasan sa mga ECE curricula.. pero sa tingin ko.. bata ka pa naman "nameless" and sa ngayon, huwag muna ito ang problemahin u.. ang advice ko ay mag-work ka muna at mag-ipon.. puwede ka namang lumipat nang ibang work anytime u wish.. hindi mo naman kailangang madaliin ang pagiging PECE.. darating din naman iyan para sa iyo sa takdang panahon.. mag-experience ka muna related man or hindi related sa "ECE" and we all know na marami pa tayong matututunan along the way.. hindi lang sa work.. hindi lang sa pagiging ECE.. kundi pati na rin sa life..

2 years is not that long except kung ayaw mo magtagal sa isang company or gusto mong magkaroon ng ibang experience.

(may research and development, research and destroy, repair and destroy, resolder and desolder ) as what sir nanotech said, dapat talaga may passion, in my case swerte na ko at 19 nakapagstart na ko sa RnD, in Firmware, hardware and software design.. good experience sya.. masaya maraming natututunan.. pero yun nga wala naman ding perfect job.. at nasa sa atin ang desisyon whether to stay or not.. kung may ibang options why not..=) marami jan sir, iweigh mo lang kung san mo talaga gusto=)

marami dito sa pinas di lang sa canon, kung software engineering gusto mo pwede din naman kahit di R&D madaming nangangailangan at tumatanggap ng fresh graduates.pag gusto mo naman software engineering related sa electronics,sa test engineering ka mapupunta or sa embedded/firmware applications.pero pag software lang talaga gusto mo no need for electronics company to apply.
