yup. but apply as thin as possible. ang main purpose niya is to fill the microscopic gaps between the metals. kung sobrang dami, hindi naman mag-contact 'yung metals.

it's also a good idea to lap the heatsink.

yup. meron lang ibang compound na ginagamit (merong compound na mataas ang metallic content kaya dapat 'di malagyan 'yung pins). 'yung iba, adhesive na rin siya.

ang tanga ko nun.. kala ko dumi.. pinunasan ko ng basahan para mawala.. aun.. 60++ deg Celsius cpu temp ko..

nung nalaman kong di pla dumi un.. bumili ako sa gilmore at nilagyan.. dinamihan ko para bumaba ung cpu temp ko.. aun.. umapaw at halos maabot na ung cpu socket ng mobo.. buti na lang.. ung gilid lang..

^ dapat doon lang talaga sa part na bakal na contact at hindi rin dapat pinupuno. as I said earlier, para lang 'yun mapunuan 'yung microscopic gaps between the metals.

mas mabuti ng kontian mo ang lagay, dagdagan mo na lang ng paunti unti kung kulang pa.. mas mahirap kung sobrang dami tapos pagpisil ng heatsink sumirit lahat sa gilid at malagyan yung mga di dapat malagyan...

nakaugalian ko nadin na kapag naglilinis pinapakintab ko ng metal polish yung area ng heatsink na didikit sa cpu sa mga socket 478 naman merong foil sa heatsink pag matagal na angat angat na inaalis ko yon then metal polish

ang application ng mga thermal paste either silicone or silver compound is like a rice grain lang...kasi once na nilagay mo yung processor then kapag nilock mo na.. yung pressure nun is enough para madistribute or mag spread n yung paste sa processor mo...

metal to metal contact pa din yung the best thermal transfer. if you lapped your heatsink (polish) magkakaroon nang thin film nang thermal paste "lulutang" yung heatsink sa paste. kaya di din maganda yung polished.

ang napansin ko lang since my pc days. is lahat nang processors is hindi lapped. even flip chips (silicon mismo) tapos laser marking pa sa top side.

if you want to make everything polished... LAP THE PROCESSOR TOO...


^ intel has integrated heat spreaders. para di na exposed yung silicon die... if you wanted, remove the IHS. so that you'll get silicon to heatsink direct! not a factory implemented ihs... you'll be surprised how much bullshit you'll get... 


^ another silicon die with a laser etch marking... for lapping gurus that should be removed....

anyways... just don't waste your time polishing it.
