mga sirs/maams,may dinala sa akin na portable air-cond, surplus from australia, compressor motor is tripping, measure ko ang ampere ng compressor, it runs at 2.2Amps then gradually increases to 10Amps after 2mins then trips.starting capacitor w/c is 35uf/450v is tested ok. ano kaya problema dito? is it the compressor running at 60hz sa power source natin o may tama na sa winding ang motor. Any idea mga masters?

yes sir, umaandar na normal, then after awhile tataas na ung ampere reading sa compressor, pag umabot na ng 10amps. magtritrip na ito, tnx for replying sir

malamang hinde pwede iyan dito sa atin, 60hz. Need siguro na i convert to 60hz ang cycle ng compressor. Ito ang example. nakabili naba kayo ng 50hz bulb type, made in china. Iilaw iyong bulb, hinde tatagal iyon, masisira.

Generally it is OK to operate a 50Hz motor at 60Hz but it will run with lower torque.
A motor is an inductive device. Running a 50Hz motor at 60Hz means lower operating current
because the inductive reactance (impedance) of the motor at 60Hz will be higher. Since torque
depends on current, lower current means lower torque.

On the other hand motors rated at 60Hz could have problems when operated at 50Hz because at lower freq, the inductive reactance is lower so current is higher. While higher current may mean higher torque, the motor could overheat due to this higher current. (unless the motor is designed to handle such higher current - thus some motors are rated 50/60Hz)

For this reason, variable freq drives for motors has to maintain the volt-hertz ratio to maintain
rated torque at different speed settings.

correction lng.. 1ph AV power supply then converted to 3Ph A/C supply to motor compressor..
variable speed ang compressor and design to with-stand 40Hz -60Hz Freq.. depends on the requirements of the heat loads

OT: nakasanayan kasing i-associate ang inverter sa Battery to AC output. but basically, an inverter is a device that converts DC to any AC. so 'yung mga aircon is 1 phase AC to rectifier - DC output - single phase/three phase AC output.
