Hi! Heard this site from a friend.

Kailangan kasi namin para sa design (traffic monitoring system), we need at least 4 wireless cameras (max of 8 ) all of which are connected sa PC for processing.

Nag rresearch ako regarding this since last month, hindi kasi ako knowledgeable especially sa hardware.

[1] RF - 1.5k for the Camera
         - 2-3k for RF Tx and Rx (meron silang 1.2GHz at 2.4GHz) range is about 50M
         - 4.5k DV-R Card (4 channels, expandable up to 16)

[2] Wifi - 7.5k for the IP Camera

Anyway.
Maraming Salamat sa Pagbabasa at Thank you in Advance!ü

hi zee.

yours is a very intelligent post that details your goal and the activities that you already did to reach that goal.
we appreciate posts like yours.

as for your requirement...

if you'll go the IP camera route, you won't be needing DVR video capture cards.  Just install ubuntu and zoneminder on a PC and setup a wireless access point and you are good to go.

i would recommend the following setup:

wificam1 >>
               >>
 wificam2     >>
                     >>
.                 >>> wifi router (wireless acccess point) -------- PC (running zoneminder)
    .              >>
    .           >>
 wificamN >>

zoneminder is an open-source software that runs on linux.
you can download zoneminder here: http://www.zoneminder.com/

it is very easy to install and setup and there exists many tutorials for zoneminder:

http://sidrit.wordpress.com/2008/08/04/video-surveillance-system-on-ubuntu-804-with-zoneminder/

http://www.howtoforge.com/video_surveillance_zoneminder_ubuntu

Wifi-CCTV BOM:
PC: 20k
wificam: @3.6k x8 = 28.8k
wifi router: 1.58k
Total = around 50k

But if you'll need video capture cards, you may want to see this:

8-channel card @ 4.5k

Salamat sa post man! Cheesy

Next question is, posible bang mag design kmi ng sarili naming hardware(IP camera, or Wireless access point)? I know, basura talaga kasi bkit ggwa p kmi ng "nagawa" na. Pero ganun tlga e. Hehe.

By next week mag start n ko mag program.

Salamat ulit sa inputs! Grin

i was in the impression that you want to build an at least 4 camera cctv using wifi or analog wireless cameras.
from what i read now, what you really want is to build a wifi camera or an analog wireless camera from scratch, right?

building a wifi camera:

you may try friendlyarm as it has a built-in camera interface and a USB-Host functionality.  sir Dandy here in electronicslab has a store selling friendlyarm kits
Johnarray is also affiliated with sir dandy's store (i think).
the usb-host is for interfacing a usb wifi.  it can run linux thus it supports just about every device that you can use with a linux desktop OS.

Magandang balita para sa amin. Hehe.

Cheesy

Salamat sa tulong sir anthony!ü

I just want to share this:

Last two weeks may mga research symposium(pagandahan ng thesis and research proposal)...

Cheesy

Hehe. Cool.

Tapos malamang battery powered ung camera, so kung 9volts or AA battery ung ggamit nila approximately mga 30mins to 1hour lang un ttgal..

Sana RF na wireless camera na lang. Smiley

hi! pwede mo ito i-connect ... may two ways for this..

easy and might be dangerous sa pc lalo na kung noobs... the parallel port
* just send the sequence sa 8bit port then you're ready to go. meron stepper motor driver na step direction lang. i think that was L298 and L297 chips. pwede din mag optoisolate para di masira yung parallel port btw.

2nd is use a serial port and maglagay lang nang microcontroller. pwede din ito btw.

google google lang nang sample code, then post mo dito.
