Guys,

Been doing a LOT of research... the pros/cons on Canon powershot TX1... and well aware of it na... MY main downsides: video encoding is NOT that effecient, battery DAW dont last long, not that great on night shooting, and some important settings, YOU should really get INSIDE the menu(AKA browse mode)..in short, no quick access button(say 4:3 or 16:9 setting)... and IS OLD..though it has GREAT zoom features: 10X optical 40X digital....

right now, Im doing a research on Sanyo Xacti HD700... good Quality: advanced video encoding (H.264) so mas maliit ang file size ng video... yun palang nabasa ko, still doing a MORE research...

hirap magdecide..

w/c of the two kaya is better? CANON powershot TX1 or the SANYO XACTI HD700?

salamat!  Wink

^just for video(hobby)... I hate the "wobble" effect common to cheap DVcamcorders... invest in the best nalang ..kahit hobby lang.. hehe

hirap talaga mag-compare sa dalawang yan..

how much ang TX1 ? ang plan ko kasi ay bumili na lang ng DSLR with 1080p video recording gaya ng 500D and 550D .. much better quality kasi ang video niya although shorter lang ang recording time.. in fact some amateur film makers are using DSLRs with video recording for film making.. ganda kasi ang quality ng video, parang kuha ng Panavision he he he he..

for the used TX1, my friend is selling it to me for 9K.... yung xacti DV700 naman is Bnew (11K)..madami naman benta dito..

di ko pa mareach ang price ng DSLR heheh although meron naman DSLR(Sony A300) yung bro ko.. at Nikon D80(sa erpat ko)...  Grin

hirap magdecide talaga.. prob ko with TX1 is resource-hungry ang video codec nya... will consume 4.4Mb/s in HD mode... ubos agad ang 4Gig SD..pero ok lang naman cguro kung 640x480 reso... pati daw battery life hindi matagal...

Can't help on the canon side but I have a xacti hd1a, one of the very first hd digital video cam.  All I can say is that a digital cam is different from a digital video cam. dont expect to get both at the same time.

Mas maganda ergonomics ng xacti, pistol grip and very easy to shoot both videos and still shots.  Mas pioneer at mas matagal na sa mp4 ang sanyo sa digital video cam using sd cards, siya yata yung 1st branded digital video cam with high quality optics.

lahat yata ng videocam may autofocus.. di lang auto focus, may face detect pa.. pati ZOOM in/out.... di pako nakakahawak ng DSLR na may video mode..

isa pang advantage sa DSLR sir, e 'yung shallow depth of field, very useful lalo na sa focus pulling. plus low light capability. medyo mahal nga lang. Grin

Can't wait for the Canon 550D. Magkano kaya price nila dito? I'm selling my d40 to add it for my budget.

closer to 7D than either 500D or 50D. Grin 18MP sensor + 63 zone evaluative meter. 'yung ibang specs, mas mataas pa sa 50D.
