How to setup your own voip server.  Step by step installations and breakdown of what is really needed?  Please, help naman kung paano, I wanna learn more how to setup one at home.  I've read, a linux based system like asterisk is commonly used, and with a sipura or linksys router with fxo/fxa ports.  Could anyone shed some light and share how to setup one.  Also, would the telephone companies block such usage or are we free to use our internet and phone lines the way we want to?

For example I have a pldt dsl internet connection and phone line.  Ok na po ba or do I need other services like voip services from companies like vonage, skype, ekek?

try mo to brod.
linux base

http://www.sipfoundry.org/

yan ang gamit ko sa office namin.
tapos softphone ang gamit ko. like eyebeam. paired with a headset or a usb handset.
pwede yung USB Phone ng cdr king na tag P650 para sa handset mo.
and pwede ka ring mag improvise na lang muna for testing.

try mo dito sa site na to:

http://vital.pri.ee/PSTN/

shops.work ng pldt ang setup ng VPN. bale branch to branch lang kame nd kame nakakatawag outside like landlines or cell phone. pero posible sya kailangan mo lang makipagarrange sa internet provider mo and additional device para mag control ng inbound and outbound mo.

dsl connection ok din.

Hello Brother,

If you are setting a simple VoIP connected to your land line
*If you are setting a simple VoIP access link to PST Network
*If you are setting a simple IP telephony to your Telephone line(whicever)

IF it is just applicable only to your home(well,I dont know the number of users)

Requirements:
You can buy an ATA (analog telephone adapter)phone (Linksys) 1 FXO  and 1 FXS with RJ 45 interface too.

HOWTO-0:
Connect the FXO(ATA) port to the RJ11 cord of your land line(PLDT/Bayantel)
Connect the FXS(ATA) port to the RJ11 cord of your handset(the one with keypad)
Connect the RJ45(ATA) port to your LAN(Switch or Router) or can directly connect it with PC

HOWTO-1
ATA configurations( You can study the manual)

Server :
a)Software
a.1)Asterisk for windows suits to you
a.2)or SIPX
a.3)Asterisk (study it first)

b) Configuration
b.1)IP config(Server IP address)
b.2)Extension(your preferred local extensions)
1101
1102
11..etc

b.3)Inbound calls
b.4)Outbound calls
b.5)Trunk

Extra Soft phone:
you can download "X-lite " to add as another client IP Phone

Simple VoIP Network

land line<----------->(FXO)  ATA(RJ45)<----------------->Switch<--------------------->PC(Asterisk for Windows)
                                        | (FXS)                             |
                                        |                                      |
                                    Hand set                       PC(X-lite)

You can see a lot HOWTOs' on the net, what I have enumerated is your request to breakdown it.
Or if you have patience enough to wait for my blog with this topic
