Frequency Range po ay para sa Aviation VHF Communication Band.

FM

108 MHz to 135 MHz .

pwede ko kaya i convert yung ordinary FM receiver ko to accomodate the Aviation VHF Comm. Band?

Thanks in advance!

nevermind modding the commercial fm band receiver. hehe.

Amplitude Modulated - SSB nga pala yun sa tower/ ac.

Radio frequencies have been divided into many different categories, or bands. A normal AM/FM radio receives two of those located bands. Scanners can receive a lot others.

000.540 MHz - 001.710 MHz : AM Band

030.000 MHz - 050.000 MHz : Very High Frequency - Lower Band

072.000 MHz - 076.000 MHz : Mid-Band

088.000 MHz - 108.000 MHz : FM Band

108.000 MHz - 137.000 MHz : Civilian Aircraft Aeronautical Band

138.000 MHz - 174.000 MHz : Very High Frequency - Higher Band

225.000 MHz - 400.000 MHz : Military Aircraft Aeronautical Band

406.000 MHz - 470.000 MHz : Ultra High Frequency Band

470.000 MHz - 512.000 MHz : Ultra High Frequency (only in some cities)

806.000 MHz - 940.000 MHz : "800" band

Gene, mayroon ako one of those radios that has the aviation band and the cb band pa.

Learning purpose ba or project or you just want to listen.  yng coil type, wala ako nakita sa web pero mayroon sa libro ko.

Now, if you want something better, you can make a downverter(convert the f of your incoming signal to the FM band). Don't worry about FM, I picked them up FM and it is clear. Tama kayo AM sila. i build AM receivers by the way with f as high as a xtal is available. Right now, 75Megs na gamit sa RC.  What is a downverter........

Two f's will mix, sum and difference.  So, to get the aviation band, we need a xtal so that the dufference will fall in the FM band. Middle of 118 and 135 . A 27 megs will work. we can tune at either the input coil or the FM receiver mismo.

Yng AMradio, we can also convert to pick up SW this way.  say, you want to pick up 10 megs on the SW band. Make the coil and converter. ang AM nasa .5 to 1.6Megs. An 8 megs xtal should work or a 10 megs ata mayroon. You will pick up SW.

You should consider joining a paid seminar that chrisVP is organizing on these topics..

for education purposes sana, gusto ko ma familiarize with Elec. Comm. ckts. and i chose Airband scanner para magamit ko as a hobby pag natapos
ko na buoin.

matagal din ako napahinga in making elec. projects.

at Manila Center 128.30 MHz

Gene,
nakaconvert ako ng ordinary FM radios tolisten to piltos and controlklers. See my Topic TX and RX anyone?

Dito lang ako sa BF homes ,Pque.  If you have an FM radio, coconvert ko for P100 fee. Tutorial fee na rin yun for my time in studying these conversions.

Mas maganda kung and FM mo ay yung transistor type. Masundan mo ang schematics. I have many schematics here and will explain sa yo. Xerox copy, P5.

My idea Gene is to sell knowledge by piece..

So, I quote a friendly fee. The going rate for my tutoring students in Math is P200 per hour per head. tung conversion to Aviation receiver will just cost P100.

Kung alang kang FM radio, pwede kang bumili for P250 or less kung sa Raon.

Kuya Bong, Bravokilo.

Unless you live very near the airport,  it would be a waste of time to listen to ATC conversation lalu na kung sa plane galing, halos puros silence with about 2~3 secs of talk siguro mag every 15 mins that is kung daanan pa ng eroplano yung lugar ninyo.  Binalak ko na gawin dati yan but did not pursue it further.

Gene and Mystique hi!

i am in BF Homes, Pque and usually the aviation air traffic is busy,. nakakalibang lang naman listening to pilots an the control tower.  I have an original aviation radio and when I build one, I compare what can be received. malakas din dyan sa Bacoor. Natry namin sa Niog. maraming dumadaan eroplano dyan. Busy ang signals. By the way, RC modeler and flyer ako and we fly in Vista Verde, Niog, and Salawag, Cavite.

@Gene, if you are serious to have one, I can sell you yung isang converted. P300. no case, open board lang cya.  I have the circuit na yung coil lang at diode and one transistor, pang earphone or hook up to a computer amp. Yung converted FM, telescopic lang. yung coil lang, biogyan kita copy if you buy the FM converted. If not, P5 lang if you come her and text me in advance so I can send a messenger to have it copied.

Just text me: 0922 281 0680

Kuya bong may schematic akong snave some time ago, mejo naging busy sa school naun last sem na kasi.

pwede kaya din ang 2n5179? or 9018? or mps2222A? sa txsistor instead of 2n918.

about sa diode replacement, uubra kaya yun 1n34A

L2 should be 1.8uH, does 22T of .6mm wire on 7mm Dia. aby 1.5cm n length satisfies?

i think L1 will determine the frequency range? or is it L2?

L1 will be 2T of 22gauge on 5/32 in dia.
