It's not a good idea to put an AVR on these newer PSU's with active PFC. They are designed to work from well below 110VAC to about 240VAC. It is likely the PSU is experiencing over-volrage surges and not under-voltage. And this is probably what is destroying them. These active PFCs circuits may also have a problem with some UPS and their sine wave generation circuits.
If it is true that the Tacens is a rebadged FSP PSU then I am not a fan of the Tacens/FSP design. I used couple and one of them broke just a month after warranty expired. It destroyed a Gigabyte motherboard with it.
I opened the unit. Unlike other PSUs that power down the entire PSU if you turn OFF the switch, the switch on the FSP works after the active PFC. The circuit is semi-live even if you turn OFF the switch.
Hmmm..nice input sir motion....siguro nga because tacens have active PFC (Power Factor Correction) so what is your suggestion sir?? remove the PC from outlet when not in use? connect directly sa AC Line and use an ordinary surge suppressor equipt extension?
