it limits the current inside the fluorescent tube, otherwise magkakaroon ng arcing sa loob ng tube at mag-ooverheat ang FL tube..

current lang sir ang pinababa ,pero ganun pa din ang boltahe binibigay ng ballast ? |

At first ON, the starter shorts the winding, then once heated the starter releases the contact and a HV back-EMF produced by the inductor/ballast will create an arc inside the lamp.

yup.. it also generates the kick start voltage para mag-ionize yung gas sa loob ng fluorescent lamp.. |

Honestly, hindi ko alam.  Mga range in kilovolts siguro kasi kailangan niyang mag-produce arc ang 2 ends sa fluorescent. |

Just to ask, FL needs ballast. Except for being a current limiter, do ballast also draws power for the lamp? Do FL draws power alone?

When the gas is excited by electricity, it emits invisible ultraviolet light that hits the white coating inside the fluorescent bulb. The coating changes the ultraviolet light into light that we see. The combination of gas, electricity, and coating in a fluorescent bulb is so effective at producing light that, without something to regulate the electricity flowing into the bulb, the light will continue to gain intensity until the bulb stops working. That's where a ballast comes in. It supplies the initial electricity that creates the light, and then it regulates the amount of electricity flowing through the bulb so that the right amount of light is emitted. |

If yung lights produced is already in ULTRAVIOLET region bakit mas mahal yung ULTRAVIOLET FL? Pwede naman pala alisin lang yung FLUORESCENT (white) coating ULTRAVIOLET source na.... |

depende yan sa input voltage regulation required by the ballast. |

yes dahil walang limiter at auto shut-off ang 12v Electronic Ballast iilaw kaso hindi na gaanu kaliwanag.  |

because uv lamps have a different type of sort of black coating that allow passage of UV light, absorb whitelight then emit them as UV light... Also market size comes to play.. since konti lang bibili ng UV lights.. specialized industry lang.. konti lang production ng manufacturer... pag konti lang production... konti lang kita.. mas maliit ang kita.. kailangan nilang taasan ang price para magsurvive ang company... nasa damidin yan ng production.. diba pag bibili ka ng components.. mas marami mas maliit ang price... |
