Hello! I am not sure if this is just alright posting a communication problem here.  It is just that this is a quiz given to us, but we don't know how to solve this yet.  If it is okay for you to give hints on how to attack this problem. Thanks!

To provide a reliable 1 GHz cellphone service in the ground
floor dining room of a 52-storey (160m) building in the center
of a metropolis, a passive link via coaxial cable was installed between
the top of the building and the dining room.  Without the link,
signals via multipath reflections were unreliable.  The top of the building
antenna is a half-wave dipole.  The dining room antenna is a quarter-wave stub
probe projecting down from the ceiling.  The handheld cellhpne is a quarter-wave
antenna projecting up has equivalent effective area.  If the dining room cellular
phone is 10m from the ceiling antenna and the top of the building antenna is
1.2km Line of sight from the cell tower, which has a gain of 10dB and the cable
loss is 2dB/100m.  What is the total path loss in dB?

initial gain = 10 dB

FSPL = 20 log (1.2) + 20 log (1000) + 32.45

dipole gain = 1.76 dBi

cable loss = 160m * 2dB / 100m

FSPL = 20 log (.01) + 20 log (1000) + 32.45

usually plus and minus lang yan kung alam mo kung alin ang losses at gain pati na rin ang formulas
