I would just like to share the Universal Class D made by Bruno Putzeys...he was a former engineer at Philips who made the Universal Class D concept (a Class D made up of Discrete components and no ICs)...for those interested pwede niyong i-try ito...they are even good enough to include schematics (NXP and Hypex who now licenses the UcD)...

here's the link...

Yeah it works.. pero yung schema na naka attach sa PDF is too simple..and no actual part value...

yup! exactly... but its an oscillator also(and a hi-power at that) ucd 380Khz(more /less)

it needs an output LC filter(@ output) to filter out the -hash- >> 20KHz...

sounds cool... hatak sa BASS(what the D-amps are "famous" for) hindi naman porket D-amp eh parang BASS booster..its just that it can reproduce MORE accurately the input... Smiley  high-eff diba? Smiley

Class D power amp, that was my college thesis. During our time, there was no PC, no internet, no published (complete) circuit of PWM amp for audio use. Little information is available, just ideas.

My mentor advised me to forget it, they believed I cannot make some circuit out of fragmented ideas. But I did go for it. I succesfully designed a circuit and build a working prototype of a 100W RMS class D audio power amp. Kaya ang nangyari during my defense, the defense panel poked, sniffed, and play around with my prototype, murmuring among themselves. Not a single question was asked, they just gave me my 1.0.

Memories of good ol' days Wink

wow! thats cool...

I believe its a "discrete" type??

or using comparators? or triangle wave gen? Cheesy

hehe tingin ko sa nag panel sa thesis mo, lang alam about switching amps kaya 1.0 agad.. hehehe

agree... hindi ito pang begginer level... NOISE kasi pag hndi properly bulit.. lalo na PS filtering... and ALL class D amps have LC output filters... very critical ito pagdating dito... wont help IF no knowledge on WHAT to do ...wrongly built L will *kill* output mosfet/s...and an LC meter *is a must*.. jsut my cents worth Smiley

pero meron din yung alexan featured project nito.. 2W rms lang yata... just to prove the concept... pwede yun pang beginner... Smiley

cool, but class D still long way to go. still a lot of improvement on audio application compare to Class AB, though Sony is now using this on low-end product re-branding as S master digital amplifier using TI product. Main advantage is efficiency, no need of huge transformer for high wattage output. No huge heatsink since efficiency is high and less heat dissipated during the process.

with class D, 90% is normal....with class B 64%, with class A, 25 to 50%.....

^ hindi lang parang parehas sis, 'yan din 'yun. hehe. nagtrabaho sa Philips (NXP) 'yung gumawa ng Universal Class D tapos umalis siya noong binili 'yung rights sa UCD nung isang company.
