Digital Machine is a Multi R&D
Rocket Science is a multi R&D
Telephony is a Multi R&D
Etc...
R&D can be innovations or better  an inventions (scratch) both can be patented in a manner as long as there are/s another features of applications fully different from the previous .

So you are right there, mentioning the vision of a certain company .What is their R&D and who are their beneficiaries. What is the research and what are the expected “development” and the general/specific output that would generate problem solutions to the beneficiaries. For example, the solutions to network /communicate every nodes of public institutions, universities and agencies for the objective to shared bulk data, files metadata, and all the general information with self build encryptions/security but of limited networked bandwidth allocations was a form of R&D.How much is the cost if the government would bid for a subcontract doing all the projects –nationally? .Imagine the cost –and it was fulfilled by our government R&D agency; solved the: cost, design and did the implementations. Well, we would not ask them whatever CPE/DTE /SERVER OS platform they did use-but that is absolutely an R&D for a system!


The only thing, why I encouraged you to work to an R&D company (personal experience) it’s far away to discrimination whether you are COE/ECE/EE/Applied Physic
say everything about your credentials(anything you can do) just as if you CAN PROVE it in the LAB-amen!

Regular or contractual don’t you worry if you impressed them with your attitude and performance you can come back anytime-that is how they would be good at you. 

So, join them; for R&D challenge awaits you!
