current flow entirely depends on potential difference i.e. a huge amount of charges on one end and less on the other.

i guess so... lightning builds up a huge amount of charge hence it'll be static electricity.

current can only flow if it gets a push, when charge builds up with positive and negative polarity there is voltage. This might be caused by build up of static electric charges in the case of lightning.

agree with jumong, kaya malimit classified ang kidlat as static eh dahil ang emphasis eh sa pinagmulan ng kidlat(charges sa clouds) at less nabibigyan ng attention yung habang kumikidlat(napakabilis naman kasi eh,hehehe).

my explaination ko dyan eh ang lightning is a form of static kc 4 example pag tumama ang lightning s isang transmission line de2restso ito s ground kaya nap2nsin nyo pag nagsak2 kyo ng any electronic device eh pu2tok kasi it deliver high voltage and un wire d b my resistance, pero d nya i2 kaya because of too much voltage in the wire. a transmission line has a two wire un isa wire dun eh direct to ground and dun ang una t2maan ng kidlat and that is static electricity pag wala p s wire pero pag nakapasok n cya eh dun n magi2ng current electricity.. ok? OK....

it is a static discharge occurring naturally.

skin naman  lightning is not elctricity its produce by electricity ksi ang definition ng electricity is a imvisible forced. so lightning is not electricity.dba pra sya malking arc ng kuryente.

Electricity is energy in the form of a current flow (flow of electrons) a good conductor is needed in this flow of electrons. Lightning is electricity, lightning arrester requires a good conductor that connects the arrester head to the ground.

so all you see is lightning produce by electricity but the electricity itself is you cannot see. crstal ba yun?  clear.! ! ! !

ung current b sa hgh voltage transmision line kita mo eh connected un sa mga substation.

electricity is not defined as an invisible force, it is a physical phenomenon which relates to the movement of electrons.

this is how current flow looks under a microscope. Wink

Electricity can flow without current but current cannot flow without electricity.

linawin lang natin ng konti. Cheesy

Electricity is the group of phenomenon related sa flow ng electric charge.

under Electricity, nandoon ang current, electromagnetism, potential, etc. so whenever there's current, potential, etc. it's electricity. Wink

according din kay Wikipedia:

These include many easily recognizable phenomena, such as lightning and static electricity, but in addition, less familiar concepts, such as the electromagnetic field and electromagnetic induction.

The part of electricity that is visible is the release of a photon of light each time an outer electron moves to another atom or when a free electron unites with a hole in a PN junction of diode.

If electricity is invisible, then the atom is also invisible. Visiblity is manifested in the electromagnetic spectrum as 380 to 780 nanometers of wavelength.

dito sa russia, everytime na huhubarin ko yung jacket para isabit, malakas ang pitik ng kuryente, para akong kinurot at me sound pa.....mahirap ignorin ang static electricity...

Your jacket made of Nylon ba? malakas ang static kung gumagamit k ng nylon products...
