is there anyone here who has a copy of IEEE 519-1981 and IEEE 519-1992 documents?

hard copy lang. if I may ask, how do you intend to use the standards? unless nasa testing or designing ka, the books are not much use.

voltage limits are in the realm of utility engineers and equipment designers, current limits are for users and equipment designers

@robbietan, thanks for the response sir. am not in testing and design sir. humihingi lang kasi ng certificate of compliance with IEEE 519 for our VFD ung client ko kaya naghahanap ako ng copy para mapag-aralan yang IEEE 519 before issuing the necessary certification.

in that case, the manufacturer should be able to provide specs that comply with the harmonic standards. you can also look for  certain features of the VFD like built in reactors, filters, etc that help mitigate the harmonics emissions of the VFD

the specs does not have any indication that the equipment complies with the IEEE 519 standard. although, it has built in noise filters and external reactors, there is no data indicating the harmonic distortion produced.

then my take is that you have to measure the voltage characteristics at the main supply breaker when you plug in the VFD and check if the voltage THD is below the 5% limit.

the utility (i.e Meralco) is only concerned when the voltage THD at the point of connection (at the meter) is beyond 5%.
