over load

not all the time naman dahil sa overload case, yung nasa workshop o repair ng mga industrial motors, nagkakaroon sila ng tripping ng CB because of shorted motor. kaya advice lang na e check yung CB para sa posibling damage ng CB. kahit minsan sa mga electronics repair shop, hindi maiiwasan sa pagsaksak mo ng unit ay shorted pala.

If it's an ordinary breaker, then there is overcurrent condition (current greater than the circuit breaker AT rating).

If it is a special breaker GFCB (Ground Fault Circuit Breaker) or AFCB (Arc Fault Circuit Breaker), then overcurrent is not the only cause for tripping.

yup, yun po bang GFCB (Ground Fault Circuit Breaker) = sa ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker)?

that's right.

If you are operating an industrial plant that require coordination protection, you use high kaic rated fuse or breaker.

If your application is a residential unit with no strict requirement for a maintenance program, use a low kaic breaker or fuse.

That's right. We call that selective coordination, isolating a fault condition. Coordination study is one of the electric utility's requirement before commissioning a distribution system.
