Sensortechnics’ HDI sensors measure absolute, differential or gage pressures in various ranges from 10 mbar up to 5 bar. The HDI series features 3 V supply versions which are ideally suitable for battery powered applications, e.g. in portable or handheld devices. HDI pressure sensors perform precision digital signal conditioning and achieve ultra high accuracies with an excellent Total Error Band (TEB) better than ±0.5 %FSS over a temperature range of 0…+85 °C.
The HDI series provides digital interfaces with I²C bus protocol and analog 0.5 … 4.5 V output signals at the same time therefore allowing customers to build up a redundancy functionality for safety critical applications. The sensors are intended to be used with air and non-corrosive gases and offer various unidirectional, bidirectional or barometric calibrations as well as different accuracy classes. Miniature SMT and DIP housings allow for space-saving PCB-mounting and maximum OEM design flexibility. A wide selection of sensor configurations are available from stock at Sensortechnics. All HDI pressure sensors can be modified according to customer specific requirements, e.g. with respect to pressure range, resolution, accuracy and internal digital settings.
Important features of the HDI series are:
Ø 3 V and 5 V supply versions available from stock
Ø Total Error Band (TEB) ±0.5 %FSS from 0…+85 °C
Ø I²C bus interface and analog output signal at the same time
Ø Miniature SMT and DIP housings
Due to the wide selection of different sensor configurations Sensortechnics is able to offer customers the best suitable sensor with an ideal cost/performance ratio. Typical applications of the HDI pressure sensors include medical devices, instrumentation, environmental controls and HVAC.

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today introduced the world’s first truly programmable solution for data communication over existing power lines. Leveraging the programmable analog and digital resources of Cypress’s PSoC® programmable system-on-a-chip architecture, the new Cypress Powerline Communication (PLC) solution integrates multiple functions beyond communication, such as power measurement, system management and LCD drive. In addition to its flexibility and integration, the new solution offers industry-leading reliability with greater than 97% packet success rates without retries and 100% success rates with retries built into the solution’s coding. The solution offers the flexibility to communicate over high-voltage and low-voltage power lines for lighting and industrial control, home automation, automatic meter reading and smart energy management applications.
Whereas existing solutions require external microcontrollers and filters, the Cypress PLC solution integrates a Frequency-Shift Key (FSK) PHY modem, network protocol and application code with the programmable analog and digital blocks and microcontroller of the PSoC architecture. This combination provides a single hardware platform for multiple applications, reducing BOM cost, board size and chip count while improving manufacturability. Cypress offers reference designs for both high-voltage (110V – 240V AC) and low-voltage (12V – 24V AC/DC) coupling circuits based on boards compliant with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) standards. The precertified boards provide developers with a complete solution with fast time-to-market. More information is available at www.cypress.com/go/PLC, and a video on the solution is available at www.cypress.com/go/PLCvideo.

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of high voltage power conversion products, announces the introduction of its new 10kW XT Series of X-Ray generators. The XT Series features a negative polarity “hot cathode” output with an integrated floating filament power supply, and an optional floating grid bias supply in models ranging from 10kV to 120kV. Front panel controls allow for easy local operation and an analog interface provides comprehensive remote control. On board ethernet with 12 bit resolution simplifies integration of the XT into OEM systems, allowing many operational features to be user programmed.
The XT’s robust IGBT inverter is inherently fault tolerant, making the series ideal for demanding applications. The 6U (10.5” high) XT can be configured with additional chassis in parallel to address higher power requirements.
The XT will be available for purchase in the summer of 2010. Technical literature and additional information on the
XT Series can be obtained at: www.spellmanhv.com/XT
Information on Spellman and their wide range of high voltage products is available by calling +1-631-630-3000,
