EM4T (Energy Meter For Traction) – the energy meter for all international rail networks
LEM has developed the EM4T – an energy meter designed for use across all rail networks.

In its basic single-phase version, the EM4T energy meter can be used in all existing rail networks (600V to 3000V DC, 15kV / 16,7Hz and 25kV / 50Hz AC). It is the only multi-network energy meter able to measure both AC and DC currents and can therefore be used for cross-border traffic.

The EM4T obtained the PTB approval as designed and tested in accordance with any valid traction and accounting standards. The input variables(current and voltage) are connected to the EM4T measuring circuits via differential input designed for connection of all current and voltage transducers/transformers currently available on the market.

The energy values are collected and stored in load profiles. The measured data recordings contain details such as date, time, events such as network change, train numbers, frequency… The EM4T is available in accuracy classes 1%, 0,5%, and 0,2%.

Characteristics

Available in accuracy classes of 1%, 0,5%, and 0,2%
Can be utilized with power supplies (24V and 110V DC nominal)
4 input channels for metering of both AC and DC signals of any existing traction network (600V DC to 3kV DC, 15kV AC 16,7Hz, 25kV AC 50Hz)
Timeframe for storing the load profiles between 1 to 60 minutes
A modem has been integrated for data transmission in a ‘LEMABox’. The LEMABox is available as an option (the EM4T will be implemented in the same box)

Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced the HMC-C070 MicroSynthTM product, which is a fully integrated broadband synthesizer module. Operating from 5.5 to 10.5 GHz, the HMC-C070 MicroSynthTM delivers excellent phase noise performance, and is ideal for military radar, EW, ECM, test & measurement and lab instrumentation applications.

Combining high performance SiGe, GaAs pHEMT, and InGaP HBT technologies into a highly compact 1.36″ x 0.75″ hermetic package, the HMC-C070 MicroSynthTM delivers excellent phase noise performance of -117 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz, and features a hermetic package, which is significantly smaller than existing solutions. This broadband synthesizer also features auto and manually triggered sweep functions, making it a valuable building block for test and measurement applications. Typical output frequency range is 5.5 to 10.5 GHz with an average output power of +21 dBm, which is enough to drive two mixers. In fractional-N mode, the HMC-C070 MicroSynthTM can realize step sizes as low as 1.2 Hz, which is ideal for high performance frequency hopping communications systems.

The HMC-C070 also features fully integrated low noise regulators and an output buffer amplifier which results in excellent ripple rejection and output power performance. Specified for -40°C to +85°C temperature operation, the module features field replaceable SMA connectors, and is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. This rugged module may be upscreened to meet higher military standards upon request.

The HMC-C070 MicroSynthTM complements Hittite’s expanding line of frequency generation products which are available in die, SMT and connectorized module formats, with frequency coverage up to 46 GHz. All connectorized module products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
